Ivan Ignatyev scored twice as he and his Rubin Kazan teammates thrashed Slavia Mozyr 5-0 in Turkey. Georgian teenagers Kvicha Kvaratskhelia and Zuriko Davitashvili, as well as Denis Makarov, completed the scoresheet.
With Russia national team head coach Stanislav Cherchesov in attendance, under-21 international Ignatyev caught the eye with a confident penalty on the stroke of half time and an instinctive finish just after the break.
Kvaratskhelia opened proceedings 12 minutes in with a beautifully crafted free kick over the defensive wall. With 10 minutes left in the first half Makarov fooled the defence with a disguised dummy and a pin-point finish in off the far post.
With less than four minutes left, Zuriko Davitashvili’s composed finish completed a neat interchange of one-touch passes on the edge of the Slavia Mozyr box.
Rubin will next face Kairat Almaty on Wednesday 19 February.
