Experimental CSKA Moscow team beat Swiss side Rapperswil-Jona

print version

CSKA Moscow fielded a mixture of youth and experience against Swiss third-tier side Rapperswil-Jona on Friday in a comfortable 3-0 win. Igor Diveev, Konstantin Maradishvili and Cedric Gogoua made the scoresheet.

Diveev won the ball back outside his own area before embarking on a silky 60-yard run after 16 minutes. He spread the ball out wide to Konstantin Kuchaev, who crossed to Jaka Bijol to touch back to Diveev. The centre-back curled it into the far corner with the outside of his right boot from 20 yards.

CSKA Moscow dominated proceedings for the most part - Gogoua nodded a close range header from Kristijan Bistrovic’s free kick into the side netting shortly after, but Rapperwil-Jona still pushed forward.

It took a stunning reaction save from 16-year-old keeper Vladislav Torop to keep out a point-blank effort from a corner routine. Normal service was resumed when Kuchaev was sent clear, but his shot hit the post before his rebound effort was blazed well over.

The Swiss side would have levelled after the break had substitute Ilya Pomazun not been alert to race out and smother a through ball. His flying punch cleared a wildly dipping cross that for a moment had looked like swerving into his net.

From wide of the six-yard box Maradishvili swept a tidy finish to give CSKA Moscow some breathing space with a quarter of an hour to go. With two minutes left Gogoua pounced at the back post to seal the result from Ilya Shkurin’s flick-on.
