Russian Premier Liga suspended until 10 April

The Russian Premier Liga, Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) and basketball’s VTB United League have suspended their competitions until April 10 in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The General Meeting of RPL clubs decided to suspend the both the Russian Premier Liga and youth championship based on the decision of the Russian Football Union Executive Committee Bureau, and in line with the recommendations of the Ministry of Sports, decisions of regional authorities and taking into account the epidemiological situation.

The suspension of the season will take place by shifting the remaining eight rounds. In the case of the ‘high alert’ status and restrictions on attending matches being extended across Russia, the RPL will issue an additional message.

"The main priority of the Russian Premier Liga has always been the health and safety of fans. This solution is a necessary measure to overcome temporary difficulties.

“We hope for understanding and a serious attitude from fans and clubs in the fight against the spread of COVID-19. We must all unite and be as responsible as possible in this situation," said RPL President Sergey Pryadkin.
