Sergey Pryadkin on FC Rostov and RPL restart

print version

Russian Premier Liga president Sergey Pryadkin talked about the situation with FC Rostov and the possibility of finishing the season early in today's press conference.

About the situation with FC Rostov:

"Officially, the information about the cases from FC Rostov came on 17 June [during the press conference, Sergey Gennadievich corrected the date to 15 June. The RPL received a letter on 17 June - Premierliga.ru]. After that, we had to wait for recommendations and instructions from Rospotrebnadzor on this situation.

“There is only one possible date for postponing FC Rostov's match against FC Sochi: 19 July, the date of the Russian Cup semi-final, since both clubs are no longer in the competition. The fixture can only be moved if both parties agree.

“Two days ago, we sent another recommendation to clubs, asking them to pay attention to their health and observe safety measures not only in training, but also in everyday life. We have to play within a strict framework now and next season; most likely until the end of the year, and maybe longer.

“I would like the guys at FC Rostov to get better soon."

About the possibility of the championship finishing early:

"We cannot say one hundred percent that there is no such risk. There is still a pandemic, and health is paramount. But we haven’t reached this option with the Russian Football Union yet."
