FC Ufa 1-1 Ural Ekaterinburg
Sunday 5 July, Neftyanik Stadium
Goals: Ufa - Terentyev (90+3’); Ural - El Kabir (66’)
Man of the Match: Othman El Kabir (Ural Ekaterinburg)
Sent off: FC Ufa - Ionut Nedelcearu (65’)
Othman El Kabir’s beautifully judged free kick gave Ural Ekaterinburg the lead, but they were denied their first back-to-back RPL matches in almost a year by Denis Terentyev’s last kick of the match. Ionut Nedelcearu was sent off for a second bookable offence that led to El Kabir’s set piece.
The opening period passed without much incident but with FC Ural dominating shots on goal. The best chance fell to Andrey Egorychev, but his header was cleared off the line by Jamal Tabidze.
After the break Denis Terentyev curled a vicious left-footed effort towards the far corner, but Yaroslav Godzyur flung himself across to tip it onto the post and out.
Ten minutes later his side were down to ten men, and 1-0 down. Nedelcearu caught Eric Bicfalvi late to receive his second yellow card, leaving El Kabir to curl an inch-perfect free kick into Aleksandr Belenov’s top corner.
With the last touch of the match, two Vadim Evseev substitutions saved a point as Denis Terentyev swept home a Danil Krugovoy cross.
FC Ufa take on FC Rostov away next up on Wednesday 8 July, while Ural Ekaterinburg host Dynamo Moscow on Thursday 9 July.
