Pogrebnyak snatches injury-time winner for Ural on return from illness

print version

Ural Ekaterinburg 2-1 Dynamo Moscow
Thursday 9 July,
Ekaterinburg Arena

Goals: Ural - El Kabir (22’), Pogrebnyak (90+2); Dynamo - Emelyanov (OG 32’)

Man of the Match: Othman El Kabir (Ural Ekaterinburg)

Pavel Pogrebnyak stole all three points for Ural Ekaterinburg in added time on his return to action. Othman El Kabir’s cultured bottom-corner finish had earlier been cancelled out by Roman Emelyanov’s own goal in the first half.

El Kabir put Ural in front just after 20 minutes with a beautifully taken shot after running through most of the Dynamo half to the edge of the box. The lead didn’t last long though, as Artur Yusupov’s drilled shot was deflected past a wrong-footed Yaroslav Godzyur by Roman Emelyanov.

Dynamo’s teenage debutant Maksim Danilin was put through on goal with quarter of an hour to go but could only steer a calm shot onto the far post and watch it bounce out.

Grigory Morozov made a mess of Andrey Panyukov’s cross in added time, leaving Pogrebnyak to gather the loose ball, turn and steer a crucial winner past Anton Shunin.

Ural Ekaterinburg take on FC Krasnodar away next on Sunday 12 July, while Dynamo Moscow host Krylia Sovetov Samara on the same day.

Ural Ekaterinburg: Godzyur, Kulakov, Emelyanov, Gerasimov, Kalinin, Augustinyak, Boumal (Bavin 79’), Kucharczyk (Efremov 67’), Egorychev (Panyukov 74’), El Kabir, Bicfalvi (Pogrebnyak 79’)

Dynamo Moscow: Shunin, Sosnin (Morozov 46’), Sunjic, Ordets, Skopintsev, Yusupov (Hiljemark 58’), Neustadter, Igboun, Philipp (Panchenko 77’), Joaozinho (Karapuzov 46’), Komlichenko (Danilin 67’)
