Lokomotiv Moscow 1-1 FC Ufa
Sunday 12 July, RZD Arena
Goals: Lokomotiv - Farfan (81’); Ufa - Fomin (pen 39’)
Man of the Match: Oston Urunov (Ufa)
Jefferson Farfan announced his long-awaited return to action with a glanced header from Joao Mario’s cross with 10 minutes left. Daniil Fomin’s first-half penalty had given FC Ufa the lead.
Although Lokomotiv had the vast majority of possession and more shots on goal for most of the first half, it was the visitors who took the lead from the penalty spot. Artem Golubev was tripped in the box by Murilo after a rapid counter attack, and Fomin stepped up to send Anton Kochenkov the wrong way.
Farfan came off the bench halfway through the second half after 14 months out injured, and within 15 minutes he had glanced an inswinging left-footed cross from Joao Mario into the net to drag his side back on level terms.
Five minutes before Farfan’s equaliser, Lokomotiv captain Vedran Corluka’s thumping header clattered back off Aleksandr Belenov’s post. At the death, Olivier Thill - who had only come off the bench in added time - slid a pass inside to Danila Emelyanov but his side-footed shot was blocked.
Lokomotiv Moscow have a derby against CSKA Moscow at home up next on Thursday 16 July, while FC Ufa host Dynamo Moscow on the same day.
