Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is named Young Player of the Season

The Rubin midfielder came out on top from 11 candidates to win the award for RPL young player of the season.

Voting was held among the captains and head coaches of RPL teams, the head coach of the Russian national team Stanislav Cherchesov, experts of the MATCH PREMIER TV channel and representatives of the media. The 19-year-old Georgian midfielder took first place from 11 voting participants.

Before the start of the 2019/20 season, Kvaratskhelia moved from Lokomotiv to Rubin, where he played 27 matches and scored three goals, one of which was a spectacular individual effort against Ural on matchday 23. The midfielder was also one of the leaders in take-ons with 194, second only to Daniil Lesovoy of Arsenal, who was also nominated among the candidates for young player of the season. On matchday 29 Kvaratskhelia completed the most take-ons in a single match with 15.
