Remembering the 2019 Russian Super Cup

print version

We introduce the best photos from the 2019 Russian Super Cup.

For the first time in the history the Russian Super Cup took part at the VTB Arena in the Petrovsky Park in Moscow.

Lokomotiv players supported Jefferson Farfan, who was badly injured on the Copa America earlier.

The moment of silence was announced before the kick off in memory of 14 submariners, who died in the Barents Sea.

Russian actor Aleksandr Petrov is happy, he was honored to make a symbolic blow before the kick off.

Fedor Smolov and Artem Dzyuba joked themselves from the beginning.

Soon Smolov scored an early goal.

And Dzyuba left the field without goals.

But his mate Sardar Azmoun scored - and made it twice!

The Iranian striker scored an equlaiser before the half-time and gave Zenit a lead at the start of second half.

Yuri Semin's team continued to battle - they have never won Super Cup since 2005.

Then Aleksey Miranchuk time to shine has come - he made a double in three minutes!

Guilherme played the final minutes calmly, and Lokomotiv got 3-2 victory!

Super Cup is the only trophy Branislav Ivanovic did not win during Russian career.

Semin is really top, as the t-shirt says: he became the first manager to win three Russian Super Cups!

Lokomotiv got the old Super Cup trophy twice, so Vedran Corluca raised the new one for the first time.

Semin holds his last trophy with Lokomotiv.

Lokomotiv kept its last season's roster mostly - only Benedikt Howedes and Aleksandr Kolomeitsev left the club, they both retired from football.

Not all Zenit players will try to strike back this year: Luka Djordjevic plays for Lokomotiv, but now he is recovering from the injury, while Robert Mak left St. Petersburg last winter.

Who is the best player of the match here?

The teams will compete for the Super Cup again in Moscow: 7 August, VEB Arena, 18:00 CET.
