Pavel Mamaev headed in the only goal of the game in the first half as Rostov strolled to a comfortable 1-0 win against Tambov in Saransk. Kirill Panchenko came off the bench to make his debut for the hosts, but was unable to change the course for the game, while Japanese international Kento Hashimoto made his bow for Rostov late on.

FC Tambov have CSKA Moscow away up next on Sunday 15 August, while FC Rostov host domestic treble winners Zenit St. Petersburg on the same day.
