Ignatyev and Bicfalvi penalties share spoils as Rubin and Ural finish with 10 men

Ural took the lead early on through Eric Bicfalvi’s penalty, only to see it cancelled out by Ivan Ignatyev’s spot kick before half time. Just before the equaliser, former Ural defender Mikhail Merkulov was sent off for a second yellow card in only his second game for Rubin. Numerical parity was restored on the hour mark when Roman Emelyanov was also given his marching orders.

Rubin Kazan are away to FC Sochi next on Tuesday 18 August, while Ural Ekaterinburg host Lokomotiv Moscow on Wednesday 19 August.
