With just over a minute on the clock, Pavel Alikin turned a brilliant header inside the far post from debutant Oleg Danchenko’s corner. 10 minutes later, Jordan Larsson saw his penalty for the visitors saved by Aleksandr Belenov, but atoned for his error shortly after by bending in a fast corner for Ezequiel Ponce to glance in the equaliser. Despite taking 21 shots and enjoying 77% possession, however, Spartak couldn’t find a winner.

Ufa move on to four points, as Spartak stay one point ahead on five.

FC Ufa will host FC Rostov next on Sunday 23 August, while Spartak Moscow welcome Lokomotiv Moscow to the Otkritie Arena on the same day.
