Ural Ekaterinburg pulled off a shock as they claimed their first win of the season at home to high-flying FC Krasnodar thanks to Vyacheslav Podberezkin’s early strike. The game had barely got started when he cracked in a superb volley to break the deadlock. 

Shortly after the break Kaio Panteleao was sent off for clattering into Andrey Panyukov. Viktor Claesson - a half-time substitute - hit the post for Krasnodar, while Eric Bicfalvi and Panyukov did the same for Ural. With Wanderson and Remy Cabella rested, Maksim Kutovoy was handed his first start for Krasnodar.

Ural move up to five points after their first win of the season, while Krasnodar remain on six.

Ural travel to face FC Rostov next on Wednesday 26 August, while FC Krasnodar host CSKA Moscow on the same day.
