Two quickfire goals from Vladimir Ilyin and Artem Timofeev, the former from the penalty spot, completed a second-half comeback for Akhmat Grozny. FC Khimki had taken the lead when Egor Danilikin turned in a near-post header from Artem Polyarus’ corner after 20 minutes. Polyarus then missed a penalty midway through the second half with his side still 1-0 up before Akhmat’s rapid response. After Ilyin’s penalty, Bernard Berisha crossed to Timofeev to sweep home his first Akhmat goal straight from the kickoff. To add insult to injury, two minutes later Brian Idowu was sent off for the hosts before his teammate Kirill Bozhenov also saw red.
FC Khimki remain winless and stuck on one point, whereas Akhmat Grozny move up to seven points.
FC Khimki are away to Arsenal Tula next on Tuesday 25 August, while Akhmat Grozny are on the road to face Lokomotiv Moscow on Wednesday 26 August.
