Rotor Volgograd finally picked up their first win of the season at the 12th time of asking with a stunning 2-1 win away to Lokomotiv that lifted them off the foot of the table. Andres Ponce delivered the coup de gras with a beautiful curling effort - his first goal for Rotor since joining on loan from Akhmat Grozny - just before the hour. 

Flamarion had broken the deadlock after heading in the rebound following Guilherme’s save from his penalty, then Dmitry Rybchinsky equalised 10 minutes later. Anton Miranchuk had a chance to restore parity in the final 10 minutes, but struck his penalty against the post. Grzegorz Krychowiak was denied a late equaliser by VAR, and was sent off in added time to boot.

Lokomotiv stay fourth on 21 points, while Rotor move up to 15th on six points.
