Zenit lost their last chance to battle for the Europa League spot after suffering another defeat from Brugge. The RPL champions, who played with Champions League new-comer Danila Prokhin in defence, struck first, when Sardar Azmoun finished from Aleksey Sutormin cross, but it was cancelled due to offside, and later Charles De Ketelaere opened the score.
The second half also started with Zenit's cancelled goal - Daler Kuzyayev scored with his hand. Brugge answered with two goals in 15 minutes by Hans Vanaken, who converted the penalty, and Noa Lang.
Brugge go into the last matchday third on seven points, while Zenit are fourth on one point.
