Spartak Moscow 5-1 Ural Ekaterinburg
Otkritie Arena, Thursday 18 March

Goals: Spartak - Larsson (12, 57), Promes (26), Sobolev (pen 45+2, pen 90+7); Ural - Bicfalvi (pen 55)

Man of the Match: Jordan Larsson (Spartak)

Jordan Larsson and Aleksandr Sobolev struck twice in an emphatic 5-1 win for Spartak Moscow to solidify their hold on second place. In between the Swede’s 11th and 12th goals of the season - that put him one behind Zenit strikers Sardar Azmoun and Artem Dzyuba - Quincy Promes and Aleksandr Sobolev had put Spartak 3-0 up at half time for the first time in an RPL game since 2018.

Eric Bicfalvi replied for Ural 10 minutes after the break from the penalty spot, but Yury Matveev’s men were still no match for their hosts. Larsson scored his second from direct free kick, while Sobolev in the injury time converted the second penalty.

Spartak stay second on 44 points, while Ural remain in 12th on 26 points.

Next RPL fixtures: Sunday 4 April - Ural Ekaterinburg vs Arsenal Tula; FC Rostov vs Spartak Moscow
