Three penalties decide Olic’s first game in charge of CSKA

CSKA edged past Tambov with a pair of penalties, one in either half from Nikola Vlasic and Salomon Rondon respectively, after falling behind to Artem Arkhipov penalty early on. 

The visitors enjoyed 70% possession, with 11 of their 26 shots on goal ended up on target, but struggled to convert their statistical dominance into clear-cut chances. Vlasic also saw a fourth penalty saved by Vitaly Sychev, but Ivica Olic’s new side held on for all three points to return to the European places.

Tambov remain rooted to the foot of the table on 13 points, while CSKA go fourth on 43 points.
