The Zenit forward overtook Aleksandr Kerzhakov after plundering four goals against Tambov.
Before the match in Saransk, Dzyuba had 133 goals, like Kerzhakov, who scored in the RPL for Zenit (2002-2006, 2010-2017) and Dynamo (2008-2009). Having scored four goals for Tambov, Dzyuba became the sole leader in the top scorers list in the entire history of the league, which has held the Russian championship since 2002.
Dzyuba made his debut in the RPL with Spartak Moscow on 21 July 2006. He came on in the 71st minute of the match against Saturn. The striker scored his first goal against Tom on 15 April 2007. In total, playing for Spartak, Dzyuba scored 26 goals. In 2009 and 2010, the forward scored 13 goals for Tom, where he played on loan. In the 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons, Dzyuba left Spartak on loan to Rostov and scored 18 times.
Since 2015, Dzyuba has been playing for Zenit. He spent the second part of the 2017/18 season on loan at Arsenal, where he scored six goals. In total, the forward scored 74 goals for the St. Petersburg team and became a three-time RPL champion.
