Poland 1-1 Russia

Tuesday 1 June, Wroclaw (Poland)
Goals:
Poland - Swierczok (4); Russia - Karavaev (21)

Vyacheslav Karavaev’s far post volley cancelled out a simple early opener for the hosts from Jakuv Swierczok as Russia settled into their rhythm following a nervy start.

Fedor Kudryashov was caught out of position as Przemyslaw Frankowski collected a ball over the top of the defence before sliding a simple pass to Swierczok to side-foot home from close range.

After 20 minutes Russia struck back. Aleksandr Golovin pinged a pin-point diagonal ball deep towards the far post, where Karavaev ghosted in behind the unsuspecting defenders to volley a firm side-footed volley at Lukasz Fabianski, who couldn’t keep the ball out.

Right on the stroke of half time Artem Dzyuba had a couple of close chances, before youngsters Igor Diveev, Maksim Mukhin and Matvey Safonov were brought on for experience - the latter for his debut.

Next Euro 2020 warm-up fixtures: Saturday 5 June - Russia vs Bulgaria; Tuesday 8 June - Poland vs Iceland
