2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Asia

Round 2

Iran 3-1 Hong Kong

Zenit striker Sardar Azmoun was included in the Iranian starting line-up but was replaced in the 69th minute with the score at 2-0. Thanks to the victory, Iran move on to nine points in third place in Group C. Iran’s next qualifier will be held on 7 June at home against Bahrain, who lead the group on 12 points.

The eight group winners and four best runners up will advance to the third stage of qualifiers.

2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, South America

Peru 0-3 Colombia

Zenit midfielder Wilmar Barrios came on as a substitute in the 72nd minute. By that time Colombia were already leading 3-0, but both teams remain outside the qualification places. Colombia are sixth in the table with seven points. On 9 June, they will play Argentina at home.

Friendly matches

Japan 3-0 Japan U-24

Rostov midfielder Kento Hashimoto played for the full senior side and opened the scoring in the second minute with his debut goal for the national team. He was substituted in the 62nd minute. On 7 June, Japan will play in Osaka against Tajikistan in a 2022 World Cup qualifier. Japan lead Group F with six wins from six games.

Sweden U-21 2-0 Finland U-21

Rostov midfielder Armin Gigovich played the entire first half for the Swedes as his side scored both goals by the 13th minute. On 8 June, Sweden will start qualifying for Euro 2023 as they host their Luxembourg counterparts. The other Group F contenders are Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Republic of Ireland and Italy.

Bulgaria U-21 0-1 Russia U-21

Mikhail Galaktionov's team won a friendly in Sofia thanks to a goal from Spartak midfielder Mikhail Ignatov in the 11th minute, with an assist from Dynamo forward Konstantin Tyukavin. On 6 June they will play a friendly against their peers from Serbia.
