Euro 2020 Quarter-final
Czech Republic 1-2 Denmark
Saturday July 3, Olympic Stadium, Baku
Goals: Czech Republic - Schick (49); Denmark - Delaney (6), Dolberg (42)
RPL Player: Czech Republic - Alex Kral (Spartak)
The Danish national team got off to a dream start in Azerbaijan when Borussia Dortmund midfielder Thomas Delaney put them in front after just six minutes of action. The Czech got back into the game with a few chances of their own, but a dagger from Kasper Dolberg meant that the game was sealed before half time.
In the second half, the Czech Republic immediately got back into the game thanks to star-man Patrik Schick’s fifth goal of the tournament. Assisted by Vladimir Coufal, Schick’s volley put him right at the top of the Golden Boot race.
Despite the Czech Republic’s best efforts, Denmark marched on to victory and further solidified their status as the feel-good story of the tournament.
Along with the rest of the Czech team, Alex Kral, who was the last remaining RPL player at the Euros, will now return to his club to prepare for the upcoming season.
The Danes will now take on either England or Ukraine at Wembley on July 7.
