RPL teams’ summer training camps: CSKA beat Nizhny Novgorod, Akhmat draw with Al-Fateh

On 19 July, the final friendly matches of RPL teams took place before the start of the 2021/22 season.

CSKA 2-1 Nizhny Novgorod

The Armymen and Nizhny Novgorod faced each other at the VEB Arena in Moscow. Ilzat Akhmetov scored a double for the hosts, the winner coming in the 85th minute after Aleksandr Sapeta scored from the penalty spot for the guests. The Red-Blues played their first game after Aleksey Berezutsky’s confirmation as head coach.

On matchday one of the new RPL campaign, CSKA will host Ufa on 25 July while Nizhny Novgorod will host Sochi on 26 July.

Akhmat 2-2 Al-Fateh

The fixture against the team that finished seventh in the Saudi Arabian championship was Akhmat’s last at the training camp in Austria. In the first half, Evgeny Kharin scored for the Grozny side, and Igor Konovalov scored in the 86th minute. Andrey Talalaev's team will start their RPL season on 25 July away to Krylia Sovetov.
