Valery Karpin appointed Russia head coach

The Russian Football Union have today confirmed that Valery Karpin will become the head coach of the Russian national team. The terms have been agreed for a deal to run until 31 December 2021, with the option to extend.

Karpin will combine his role in charge of Rostov with his new responsibilities over the national side for the initial term of the deal. He has been head coach of Rostov since December 2017, before which he managed Mallorca, Torpedo Armavir and Spartak Moscow.
