Rubin fail to beat Rakow in Poland

print version

UEFA Europa Conference League, Third Qualifying Round, First Leg
Rakow Czestochowa 0-0 Rubin Kazan

Thursday August 5, Stadion Miejski, Bielsko Biala, Poland

After a faultless start to their league campaign, Rubin Kazan were met with fierce resistance in their maiden European tie of the season. On a rainy night in Poland and with a weakened starting XI, Rubin failed to open their account against Rakow but managed to keep a clean sheet. Midfielder Oleg Shatov and full back Aleksandr Zuev were also subbed off due to injury in what was a less than fruitful evening for Leonid Slutsky’s men.

Rubin now have a match against Akhmat on 8 August, and after that they’ll host Rakow for the second leg of this tie on 12 August.
