Game of penalties as Loko and Zenit share the spoils

Thanks to a penalty each, Lokomotiv and Zenit shared the points in an exciting encounter at the RZD Arena. The reigning champions were put at a disadvantage after Daler Kuzyaev’s red card early in the second half, but managed to stay in the game. After 85 minutes of stalemate, Guilherme brought down Sardar Azmoun in the penalty area. Aleksey Sutormin duly converted the penalty, but his effort was cancelled out by a penalty for Loko just five minutes later. A frantic end to the game followed, but neither side could secure a victory.

Zenit dropped their first points of the season while Loko picked up their second draw in a row.
