Nizhny Novgorod 2-3 Arsenal Tula
Sunday 19 September, Nizhny Novgorod Arena
Goals: Nizhny Novgorod - Nikolay Kalinsky 8', Kozlov 85'; Arsenal - Causic 17', 90+4', Markov 44'
Man of the Match: Goran Causic (Arsenal)
Goran Causic was the dramatic hero for Arsenal to end their agonising wait for a win away from home with a winner in the last minute of added time to add to his earlier equaliser.
Aleksey Kozlov thought he had had the final say, finding himself in the right place at the perfect time to poke home a late equaliser for Nizhny Novgorod from close range to become the new boys' unlikely top scorer with three league goals.
Evgeny Markov had earlier put the visitors in front with a clever header just before half time to complete their first comeback.
They had fallen behind inside the first 10 minutes when Nikolay Kalinsky smashed home an emphatic finish after a rapid full-pitch counter attack, but wasted no time getting back on level terms through Goran Causic after a quarter of an hour.
Brilliant wing play from Evans Kangwa opened up space to slide a firm low cross towards the Serbian to side foot home.
Just before the break they took control of the match, as Markov timed his run to beat Arthur Nigmatullin to a lofted ball and flick it over the outrushing Nizhny Novgorod keeper for his second goal in two weeks.
With mere seconds remaining in added time, Causic rose to thump home a powerful header to finally end Arsenal's away day hoodoo.
Nizhny Novgorod stay seventh on 11 points, while Arsenal escape the automatic drop zone in 13th on eight points.
