Zenit St. Petersburg 1-2 Sochi
Sunday 3 October, Gazprom Arena
Goals: Zenit - Dzyuba 45'; Sochi - Cassierra 67', Terekhov 71'
Man of the Match: Mateo Cassierra (Sochi)
Sochi pulled off a huge shock as they came from behind to beat league leaders Zenit away from home, thanks to a five minute second-half blitz.
Mateo Cassierra levelled in bizarre circumstances, tapping into an empty net after Stanislav Kritsyuk spilled a cross that Dmitry Chistyakov was trying to head clear.
Artem Dzyuba had put the hosts in front with a close-range header from Malcom's in swinging free kick. By that stage, though, Zenit were already down to 10 men after Sardar Azmoun was sent off.
Moments after Cassierra's equaliser, Sergey Terekhov pounced to put Sochi in front, and secure a rare defeat for Sergey Semak's men.
Zenit stay top on 23 points, while Sochi go third on 18 points.
