Zenit St. Petersburg 0-1 Juventus
UEFA Champions League Group H
Wednesday 20 October, Gazprom Arena
Goal: Juventus - Kulusevski 86’
Dejan Kulusevski came off the bench to deliver the agonising hammer blow to Zenit after a tight encounter had promised to deliver a precious point apiece. With less than five minutes remaining, Dejan Lovren was caught ball-watching as an inswinging corner found the Swedish midfielder completely unmarked six yards out to head a late winner in off the far post.
While Chelsea were busy dismantling Malmo in London, Zenit were busy frustrating their illustrious visitors Juventus in the first half. The Italians enjoyed plenty of the ball, holding roughly twice as much of the ball as their hosts, but they were unable to find a way through.
In fact, for all their territorial and possession dominance, It was Zenit who took more shots on goal. After the break Sardar Azmoun entered the game as Sergey Semak kept his foot on the pedal, but there was a lack of clear-cut chances at both ends - until
Zenit stay third on three points, while Juventus remain top on nine points.
