Sarveli strike sends Krylia soaring to seventh

print version

Krasnodar 0-1 Krylia Sovetov Samara
Saturday 30 October, Krasnodar Stadium

Goal: Krylia - Sarveli 43’
Man of the Match: Ivan Lomaev (Krylia)
Sent off: Krylia - Dmytro Ivanisenya 89’

Ivan Lomaev was called into action to keep out an attacking Krasnodar with some impressive saves in the first half, most notably from Tonny Vilhenna. The Dutchman won back possession outside the penalty area with his back to goal, but turned, took a touch before unleashing a powerful drive that Lomaev tipped onto the crossbar.

Eduard Spertsyan clipped the crossbar just after the half-hour mark with a wonderful free kick lifted over the defensive wall, moments before Viktor Claesson thought he’d deflected in the opener, but it was disallowed after a VAR review.

After the storm had been weathered though, it was the visitors’ turn to strike, although in truth they had little hand in creating the opportunity. Sergey Petrov’s underhit backpass to Matvey Safonov was easily intercepted by Ivan Sergeev, who simply squared to Vladislav Sarveli to tap into an empty net from a few yards out.

Dmytro Ivanisenya was sent off with two minutes left, but Krylia held on to complete the job.

Krasnodar remain fifth on 21 points, while Krylia go seventh on 19 points.

Next RPL fixtures: Saturday 6 November - Dynamo vs Krasnodar; Krylia vs Khimki
