Man of the Match: Andrey Egorychev (Ural)
Ural's battling home form continued with a tight first-half performance against high-flying Sochi that was lit up with a wonderful touch from Rafal Augustinyak.
The Polish midfielder surged into the box with perfect timing to delicately side foot a well-placed volley into the far corner after Eric Bicfalvi had carved an inswinging cross.
Midway through the second half Christian Noboa drew Sochi level with a low effort from the edge of the area, but within a few minutes the visitors were on the back foot again.
Mateo Barac was shown his second yellow card to leave the visitors down to 10 men for over quarter of an hour. Other than an ambitious overhead kick from Bicfalvi, the remainder of the game passed without incident as Ural dragged themselves out of the bottom two.
Ural lift themselves out of the automatic relegation zone in 14th place on 13 points, while Sochi remain third on 28 points.
