Akhmat Grozny 2-0 Rostov
Saturday 27 November, Akhmat Arena
Goals: Akhmat - Polyarus (pen) 27', Sebai 76';
Man of the Match: Daniil Utkin (Akhmat)
In a game of few truly clear-cut chances, it was perhaps unsurprising that the game pivoted on two refereeing decisions, both of which were fair.
After 27 minutes, Igor Kalinin's outstretched arm diverted a low cross, and after a moment or two, Vladislav Bezborodov pointed to the spot. Artem Polyarus smashed the spot kick straight down the middle to take the lead for Akhmat.
Only a few minutes later Kirill Folmer had the ball in the back of the net, only for a VAR review to rule out Ali Sowe for offside before his cross picked out the young midfielder.
Semin Sebai sealed the result with less than 20 minutes remaining. Miroslav Bogosavac threaded through a ball via a fortunate deflection, and the Ivorian striker swivelled before sweeping a first-time shot straight over Sergey Pesyakov's head from a few yards out.
Akhmat go seventh on 24 points, while Rostov remain 11th on 17 points.
