RPL winter training camps: CSKA earn victory over Lyngby, Rostov win for first time in Spain

On 9 February, seven RPL teams played friendly matches in preparation for the spring part of the 2021/22 season.

Krylia Sovetov 2-1 Astana

Krylia completed their second training camp in Turkey with a victory over the six-time champions of Kazakhstan. Danil Lipovoy scored for Krylia in the 43rd minute, and Yuri Gorshkov scored in the 65th. At the start of the second half, the ex-Krylia player Abat Aimbetov scored for Astana. As part of the third Turkish training camp, Igor Osinkin's team will hold friendly games against Rubin (14 February) and Khimki (19 February).

Rostov 2-1 Linense

Rostov had scheduled two matches for Wednesday and beat Linense from the third Spanish division in the first one. The Yellow-Blues conceded first, but Kirill Shchetinin equalised in the 60th minute, and nine minutes later Rostov's newcomer Egor Golenkov scored. The victory over Linense was the first for Rostov at the training camp in Spain.

Rostov 0-2 Haugesund

In the second game, Rostov lost to Norwegian outfit Haugesen, which are 11th in their domestic championship in 2021. Rostov conceded both goals after the 70th minute.

CSKA 3-2 Lyngby

After defeating Viborg (3-2) and Nordsjaelland (1-0), the Armymen beat another team from Denmark – Lyngby, who are in third place after 18 rounds of their native Super League. In the first half, Ivan Oblyakov and Anton Zabolotny scored goals for CSKA, and Vladislav Yakovlev scored the winning goal in the 89th minute. Alexey Berezutsky's team have completed the second part of the camp in Campoamore, with training to resume on 12 February.

Spartak 5-1 Liwa

The Red-Whites played an additional friendly match in the UAE against local side Liva from the third division, the day after beating Ural 3-1. By the 24th minute, Spartak had scored four unanswered goals: Shamar Nicholson bagged a double, with Leon Klassen and Daniil Denisov also scoring. In the 54th minute, Nikolay Rasskazov scored a fifth. Spartak will train in the Emirates until 12 February.

Ural 1-2 Ararat Armenia

In the second match at their second training camp in the UAE, Ural lost to Armenian league leaders Ararat, who are coached by Russian manager Dmitry Gunko. Ural had conceded two goals by the 10th minute and responded with a goal by Eric Bicfalvi in the 71st minute. Ural will play their next friendly match on 12 February against another Armenian side in Pyunik, whom they met in the Emirates on 26 January 26 and drew 1-1.

Nizhny Novgorod 2-0 Levadia

Nizhny Novgorod were victorious over the 10-time champions of Estonia thanks to goals from Timur Suleymanov, who opened the scoring in the second minute, and trialist Viktor Aleksandrov in the 75th minute. On 13 February, Aleksandr Kerzhakov's team will meet the current champions of Kazakhstan, Tobol, in Turkey.

Khimki 0-0 Hermannstadt

In the last match at their second Turkish training camp, Khimki drew with Hermannstadt from the Romanian League 2. In four games during the training camp, Igor Cherevchenko's team drew twice, won once and suffered one defeat. Khimki’s third training camp in Turkey will be held from 14 to 23 February, with friendly games against Navbahar from Uzbekistan (16 February) and Krylia Sovetov (19 February).
