Lisakovich to the double as penalties rescue Rubin comeback

Vitaly Lisakovich continued his superb streak as a Rubin Kazan player by striking twice again to save his new side from potential Russian Cup embarrassment.

Rotor became the second lower-league side to take the lead in Thursday’s Russian Cup fixtures as they shocked Rubin by taking an early lead through Roman Minaev after just 12 minutes

Rubin hit back just before the half-hour mark from the penalty spot thanks to Vitaly Lisakovich - his third goal in just two games for his new side.

The Belarusian striker then went one better by converting another penalty with 17 minutes remaining to complete the turnaround.

The draw for the quarter-finals will take place on Friday 4 March.
