Leonid Slutsky was well and truly taught a lesson by his former pupils as Aleksey Berezutsky's CSKA obliterated Rubin with almost embarrassing ease, as their entire midfield of new signings all scored.
Even Rubin's consolation was scored by on-loan CSKA midfielder Konstantin Kuchaev, but by that time the visitors were already 4-0 down.
Predictably, Yusuf Yazici was yet again central to CSKA attacks, breaking the deadlock after just five minutes. Jean-Phillipe Gbamin added a second five minutes later, before a double blast midway through the opening half.
Kuchaev's consolation brought a slither of respite, but on the stroke of half time Aleksandr Lomovitsky was sent off to make an already impossible task even harder.
Yazici added a fifth after the hour mark, before Jesus Medina had a cheeky chip chalked off by VAR review.
An almost perfect afternoon's work was completed in the closing moments as Silvije Begic clattered into Chidera Ejuke in the penalty area, leaving him to be sent off and Yazici to stroke his hattrick home from the spot.
CSKA remain third on 42 points, while Rubin stay 10th on 25 points.
