Zinkovsky keeps cool to win it for Krylia

print version

Ural Ekaterinburg 0-1 Krylia Sovetov Samara
Sunday 10 April, Ekaterinburg Arena

Goal: Krylia - Zinkovsky 53’
Man of the Match: Anton Zinkovsky (Krylia Sovetov)
Sent off: Ural - Gerasimov 85’

Glenn Bijl thought he had handed Krylia Sovetov an early lead after he cut inside and smashed an unstoppable effort over Ilya Pomazun from Vladislav Sarveli’s intelligent threaded pass across the penalty area, but it was ruled out after a VAR review.

The Dutchman came closest before half time to breaking the deadlock forcing a fingertip save from Ilya Pomazun, while right at the start of the second half Sarveli smacked the post with a fizzing rocket from outside the box.

When Anton Zinkovsky timed his run to perfection, latched onto Maksim Glushenkov’s angled through-ball and rounded Pomazun with relative ease to hand Krylia the lead soon after, therefore, it wasn’t out of the blue.

Only a full-stretch save from Pomazun down low to his left in the last 10 minutes kept the deficit to one goal. Ural had taken 11 shots at this stage, but not one of them had been on target.

To make matters worse, Aleksey Gerasimov was sent off with five minutes to go for a second bookable offence.

Ural remain 14th on 21 points, while Krylia go seventh on 35 points.

Next RPL fixtures: Saturday 16 April - Zenit vs Ural; Sunday 17 April - Krylia Sovetov vs Krasnodar
