The neighborhood clash at Rostov Arena - Rostov were ninth in the standings, while Spartak were tenth - kicked off with the two goals in the first 20 minutes. The hosts took the lead firstly after Roman Tugarev solo performance, which gave him first goal this season. The visitors answered with the same impact, when Aleksandr Sobolev technically tossed the ball and sent past Sergey Pesyakov. That’s his second consecutive match in the RPL with a goal.
Spartak scored one more time before the half-time, but Samuel Gigot was caught offside. Another goal from the visitors was denied by VAR in the second half, as videoassistants found a handball by Mikhail Ignatov before he scored.
The final part of the match had been running intensely. Dmitry Poloz was fouled in the box, Rostov top scorer took the penalty himself and beat Aleksandr Maksimenko continuing his best RPL season with 13th goal. When injury time came, Ruslan Litvinov tied the game again smashing outside the box. Spartak youngster was that guy, who scored against Rostov in the 1st part of the season, but the hosts had a final word after earning another penalty. As Poloz was substituted, Ali Sowe was responsible for this shot, and he earned fourth consecutive win for Valery Karpin team.
Rostov go eighth on 34 points, while Spartak stay 10th on 31 points.
