FC Rostov 2-1 FC Khimki
Saturday 14 May, Rostov Arena
Goals: Rostov - Tugarev (12), Poloz (17); Khimki - Mirzov (90+5)
Man of the Match: Dmitry Poloz (Rostov)
Good start helped Rostov to get a comfortable lead against Khimki, and it led to the victory. First goal came from a combination, when Dmitry Poloz controlled the ball and passed to Roman Tugarev, and he finished from ten metres. It took three touches to Valery Karpin’s team to get the second gpal: they started from long ball by Sergey Pesyakov, then continued with Egor Golenkov header pass, and finally Dmitry Poloz beat Ilya Lantratov again getting his 14th goal this season and improving his personal record of goals scored in one RPL season.
Khimki were not so good with creating chances, despite their nine attempts in the second half, and especially Lowrence Nicholas tried to score with head after the free kick, but it went near the post. The only shot on target came in the added time after Reziuan Mirzov ran with the ball through a half of field and scored with a ricochet, leaving former team without a clean sheet and spoiling Karpin mood after their final match at Rostov Arena.
Rostov go ninth on 38 points, while Khimki stay 12th on 29 points.
