Akhmat win again despite red card

print version

Akhmat Grozny 1-0 Krylia Sovetov Samara
Saturday 14 May, Akhmat Arena

Goal: Akhmat - Konate (54)
Sent off: Akhmat - Semenov (60)
Man of the Match: Giorgi Shelia (Akhmat)

The final game at Akhmat Arena this season was a struggle for the hosts, despite them facing a side they had beaten six times in the previous seven meetings. The visitors surprised with the starting 11, as Ivan Lomaev remained on the bench for the first time this season, and Bogdan Ovsyannikov made his RPL debut.

He stopped two shots on target in the first half, at the beginning of the second he had nothing to do with Mohamed Konate's header. Akhmat striker came on the pitch just after the half-time, and he played nine minutes before scoring. Soon Dmitry Tsypchenko was fouled in the box, and it caused a second yellow card for Andrey Semenov. Yury Gorshkov previously scored from the spot against Spartak, but Giorgi Shelia saved the ball from the right corner. So Akhmat remained the only team, who never conceded a penalty this season.

Anton Zinkovsky tried to find a top corner twice, but it went little wide both times, and Andrey Talalaev’s side for the second matchday in a row grabbed three points despite getting the red cards.

Akhmat go seventh on 41 points, while Krylia Sovetov move down to eighth on same 41 points.

Next RPL fixtures: Saturday 21 May - Krasnodar vs Akhmat Grozny; Krylia Sovetov Samara vs Lokomotiv Moscow
