FC Krasnodar 1-0 CSKA Moscow
Sunday 15 May, FC Krasnodar Stadium
Goal: Krasnodar - Krivtsov (75)
Man of the Match: Nikita Krivtsov (Krasnodar)
CSKA travelled to Krasnodar with the last hopes to reach the top 3, but these dreams were broken. Young Bulls set new club record with eight Academy graduates making the starting 11, among them Matvey Safonov, Sergey Borodin, Vitaly Stezhko (RPL debut), Oleg Isaenko, Dmitry Pivovarov, Aleksandr Chernikov, Eduard Spertsyan and Irakly Manelov. CSKA also brought two youngsters in their roster with Egor Ushakov returning in the main squad and Zaur Tarba making his RPL debut. The latter had already become an M-Liga winner with CSKA U-19.
The hosts stole the first 30 minutes, even forcing Georgy Schennikov to score an own goal, but earlier Irakly Manelov was caught in offside. Safonov was worried also, when Chidera Ejuke tried to find the left corner, but Matvey saved the ball. With substituting two youngsters for Jesus Medina and Kirill Nababkin CSKA increased their possession, and it led to 14 attempts in the second 45 minutes, but most dangerous shots from Jorge Carrascal were caught deadly by Safonov. Krasnodar had just one shot on target, and Nikita Krivtsov was a lucky guy to score his screamer from 30 metres into the top corner.
It was not the only sensation by Krasnodar, for the first time ever the club had 11 Academy graduates on the field at one time. The historical event came to life after Nikita Sergeev replaced Olakunle Olusegun in the added time.
Krasnodar go fourth on 49 points, while CSKA drop to fifth 47 points.
