FC Khimki and FC Orenburg became the winners of the relegation play-off matches between the RPL and FNL teams to play in 2022/23 RPL season.
Khimki, finished 13th in RPL, beat SKA Khabarovsk, finished 4th in FNL. After losing 0-1 in the first leg Sergey Yuran team get 3-0 win in the second. Khimki have been playing in the top division since 2020/21 season, previously played since 2007 till 2009.
Orenburg, finished 3rd in FNL, passed Ufa, finished 14th in RPL. The first leg ended with 2-2 draw, while the second was won by Marcel Licka team with a late goal (2-1). Orenburg made their RPL debut in 2016/17 season, later they were the league participants in 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons.

Following the decision made by RFU Executive Committee on 24 May the RPL will keep its competition format in the next season.
