Sergey Semak becomes best coach third season in a row

Zenit St. Petersburg head coach Sergey Semak took the first place in the voting to win RPL Best Coach of the Season award.

The winner was decided in the voting with participation of RPL teams’ captains and head coaches, Russian sports media editors-in-chief, main broadcaster MATCH PREMIER commentators and Nikolay Pisarev, member of Russia national team coaching staff.

Two coaches tied with most points, as Sergey Semak and Vladimir Fedotov from Sochi got 118 points both. According to the RPL individual awards regulations, the coach of the season is decided depending on the final positions of their teams. As Zenit finished first, while Sochi became second in the standings, Semak was announced as the best coach of the season.

46-year-old won the voting third time in a row, as he led Zenit to their fourth RPL title in four seasons. The Blue-White-Sky Blues got 19 wins, eight draws and three defeats after 30 matchdays, they won the championship ahead of schedule after 3-1 win over Lokomotiv in matchday 27. Zenit also got Russian Super Cup at the beginning of the season.
