Head coach Guillermo Abascal missed the match against Khimki, as he was suspended following investigation on CSKA vs Spartak derby. RPL top scorer Quincy Promes was out having four yellow cards. Nevertheless, the Red-Whites showed power in the first 20 minutes, Mikhail Ignatov scored on the rebound after two minutes of play, then Shamar Nicholson stole the pass and beat Vitaly Gudiev. Khimki made some problems and forced Aleksandr Selikhov to save the hosts five teams after dangerous strikes.
Nicholson calmed the game after great volley, and in the final minutes two youngsters, 18-year-old Pavel Meleshin and 22-year-old Pavel Maslov, scored their debut goals in RPL. Players followed the steps of their fathers, Aleksey Meleshin and Evgeny Maslov also scored in the top Russian division. Another 18-year-old Daniil Zorin made first league appearance and marked it with assist to Meleshin. These five goals led to the biggest win for Spartak this season.
Spartak go second with 29 points, while Khimki stay 15th on nine points having no wins in the last ten matchdays.
