RPL Matchday 14
Akhmat Grozny 1-0 Torpedo Moscow
Sunday 23 October, Akhmat Arena, Grozny
Goal: Akhmat – Konate (41)
Man of the Match: Giorgi Shelia (Akhmat)
After one week working with Torpedo, time came to Andrey Talalaev to face Akhmat, where he coached more than two years. But due to illness the head coach stayed in Moscow, so assistant Yury Nagaytsev, also worked in Grozny with Talalaev, took the duties. Another familiar person for hosts was Igor Lebedenko, who played here for five years. The oldest scorer in RPL history earned a penalty in the first half, but after VAR checked the moment, it was called off. Akhmat capitalized their chance before the break, Mohamed Konate, a player for three Talalaev’s teams, scored against former coaches from Vladislav Kamilov’s assist.
Torpedo tried to equalize in the second half with couple breakaways, but Giorgi Shelia stopped the shots from Oleg Kozhemyakin and Maksim Turishchev, who came from the bench. Akhmat keeper earned first clean sheet since goalless draw against Zenit.
Akhmat are sixth win 23 points, while Torpedo still bottom on six points.
