Free kick’s masterpiece is not enough to Krasnodar, CSKA go further in RPL Path

print version

Russian Cup play-offs
RPL Path Quarter-finals, 2nd leg
FC Krasnodar 1-0 CSKA Moscow
Tuesday 28 February, FC Krasnodar Stadium

Goal: Krasnodar – Spertsyan (50)

Vladimir Ivic had tough task at his first home match as Krasnodar head coach to come back from 0-3 defeat in the first leg. He made three changes comparing the line-ups in first and second legs, as Sergey Petrov, Mihajlo Banjac and Olakunle Olusegun replaced Sergey Volkov, Kevin Pina and Aleksey Ionov (by the way, Volkov and Ionov entered the match in the second half).

Hosts made more trouble for Igor Akinfeev, and while CSKA captain deal with Banjac shot in the first half, he could not take Eduard Spertsyan free kick in the beginning of second half. The Bulls top scorer has three successful free-kick attempts in total this season, but that masterpiece was the only goal for Krasnodar in this game, and 1-0 win was not enough to stay in top bracket.

CSKA won 3-1 on aggregate and qualified to RPL Path semi-finals, while Krasnodar moved to Regions Path quarter-finals second stage, and they will face one of the winners from the first stage.
