print version

Russian Cup play-offs
RPL Path finals, 1st leg
CSKA Moscow 1-1 Ural Ekaterinburg
Wednesday 19 April, VEB Arena, Moscow

Goals: CSKA – Medina (pen 89); Ural – Bicfalvi (70)

The Armymen vs Ural matches pretend to be the most often this season, as they went to fifth meeting at VEB Arena with sixth to take place at Ekaterinburg Arena two weeks later. During the group stage CSKA beat Viktor Gancharenko team 2-1 at home but lost in the penalty shootout on away. After 70 goalless minutes Ural took the lead; Andrey Egorychev shot was nicely saved by Igor Akinfeev, but Eric Bicfalvi was successful on the rebound.

Anton Zabolotny, who scored at Ekaterinburg four days ago in RPL fixture, was useful again, causing foul from Emerson in the penalty area. Jesus Medina equalized and sent the teams to second leg tied on one. Curiously, in the previous stage both teams came over their opponents after draws in the first leg.

Second leg will take place in Ekaterinburg on Wednesday 3 May.
