Burkina Faso & Konate steal win over Mauritania at Africa Cup of Nations

Akhmat Grozny striker Mohamed Konate played in the first Burkina Faso national team match at 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote-d’Ivoire.

Burkina Faso beat Mauritania 1-0 through Bertran Traore goal from penalty on sixth minute of added time in the second half. Konate spent 85 minutes before being replaced, and he earned a yellow card. Akhmat forward, born in Cote-d’Ivoire, participates in second straight Africa Cup with Burkina Faso.

After first round of the group stage the Stallions go top of the group D, as Algeria and Angola, met on 15 January, ended in draw. Burkina Faso and Algeria will meet in the next match on 20 January.

Whom to follow on 17 January

This will be the last day of first group stage round at Africa Cup of Nations, and DR Congo with Spartak midfielder Theo Bongonda will start the tournament. They will face Zambia, who have several former RPL players, such as Stoppila Sunzu, Kings Kangwa and Lamek Banda, all played for Arsenal Tula.
