Three teams were the contenders for the trophy; Rostov stayed top despite the defeat to Kairat, Spartak needed win with two-goal difference with three goals scored at least, while Kairat was able to become winners only with five-goal difference win. Spartak quickly captured the lead making two-goal advantage in 15 minutes; Aleksandr Sobolev scored in his only match at the tournament, and Anton Zinkovsky get his second goal here after long-distance assist from Nikita Chernov.
2-0 was not enough for Spartak for winning the trophy, and the Red-Whites came for more in the second half. Daniil Khlusevich supported the attack bringing third goal, then Quincy Promes entered as substitute to add his brace, and Viktor Moses said the final word making the steal from the goalkeeper.
With best goal difference Spartak moved Rostov from first place to become two-time RPL Winter Cup winners. Rostov became second, Shabab Al Ahli finished third, and Kairat dropped to fourth with worst goal difference.
