Leonid Slutskiy Appointed Rubin Kazan Manager

print version

Leonid Slutskiy has been unveiled as the new manager of Rubin Kazan. The 48-year-old is one of Russia’s most decorated managers having won three Russian Premier League titles, two Russian Cups and two Russian Super Cups. Slutskiy has signed a five-year contract, and will be assisted by Oleg Kuzmin - who played under him at FC Moscow over a decade ago - goalkeeping coach Sergey Kozko and fitness coach Javier Noya Salses.

The former CSKA Moscow manager returns to the Russian Premier League almost exactly three years after leaving his homeland. After a five-month spell at Hull City, Slutskiy enjoyed more success as a head coach at Vitesse Arnhem where he managed current Zenit St. Petersburg fullback Vyacheslav Karavaev. Slutskiy has managed a total of 442 RPL matches across spells in charge of CSKA Moscow, Krylia Sovetov Samara and FC Moscow, averaging 1.76 points per game.
