In the near future, the German manager will take up the position of the Railroaders' head coach.
As a player, Markus Gisdol played for a number of German clubs but hung up his boots at the age of 25 and became a coach. At the beginning of his coaching career, Markus Gisdol worked predominantly with youth teams, coaching Stuttgart under-17s and Hoffenheim's second team, guiding the latter to the Baden-Württemberg Oberliga title.
Gisdol also worked as the head coach of Hoffenheim's senior team, and as assistant manager of Schalke 04 where he worked under Ralf Rangnick for a spell. From 2016 to 2018, Gisdol took charge of Hamburg, and from 2019 to 2021 managed Cologne.
